As an employee,
Emergency Care Plus (tm) is a "no brainer" because it doesn't cost you a cent!
Yes, your employer does withhold an amount of money from your pay (which you stipulate),
but that money
goes right back in to your Visa checking account, so you get that money back the same day! It's your money,
and you can spend it whenever you need to!
Did we mention that your employer is matching the amount you have withheld? Basically, you just got a raise!
As long as you use your
Emergency Care Plus (tm) card wisely (for medical expenses such as emergency room
care, ambulance transportation, MRI's, amd even major dental work, such as braces and crowns), you get to keep
the full amount your employer contributes to your Visa checking account. You can even take it with you when you leave
that employer, as long as you have worked a minimum length of time for that employer.
Emergency Care Plus (ECP) Vs a Health Saving Account (HSA)
You may have heard the term Health Savings Account, or HSA, and some employers offers those,
which is good, but HSA rules are complicated, and
you must have a high-deductible health insurance
plan to even qualify!
1. HSA's have a lot of rules to follow, and can be restrictive
2. HSA's do not allow separate dependent accounts
3. HSA's do not cover transportation costs, and
4. With an HSA, you have to pay for things out of your own pocket,
and then wait to get reimbursed (more paperwork ...)
